Default Mechanical Engineering CAD Project

In our mech. engineering CAD (computer assisted drawing) class we've been working on this small project for the past couple weeks. We had to model all the parts of an engine and finally put them together in a working 3d animation.

I was finishing up the project (making the cam move with the crank at the proper relative velocity) and I realized this is probably something some of you guys might want to check out, especially if some of you are figuring out what you might want to study in college.

Engine is an inline 4, 8 valves, SOHC. Very basic but making more complicated engines is very easy as its just a few more parts. All of the parts were designed and animated in Pro/Engineer Wildfire 3.0

Enjoy

A complete component list inside the final 3d file:

I'll be doing this next semester. Looks like you did a good job. I'm in Electro-Mechanical Engineering but I'm trying to get my Electrical engineering degree.

Maya would look a lot better for animations, and your wire drawings would be just as complete in CAD.

Nice work.

Not bad. I use Solidworks for my designing at work. Mechanical Engineering FTW
