he failed with the k20a3.
actually, the first prototype ariel atoms were designed with the k20A3 in mind because they were readily available and cheaper to deal with. even with the k20A3, they struggled with traction, launching, and power to weight ratio.

funny how people on this board think they can do better
I agree, to an extent. From the replies, it isn't so much that people think they can do better...it's just that instead of giving the guy credit for turning junk into something cool, they're knocking on him for the engine he's using or the types of materials that were used in building it. Sadly, it's always easier to knock on people with skills than to give them props.

I think that kid has got some MAD skills, as that replica he's made of the Atom is freaking badassed.

my point exactly --
Do I think I could have done a better job ? -- hell yes, --

--- but that's because I fabricate custom things for a living (plus I'm old as shit...)

The point is that this high school kid saw the atom, realized that he couldn't buy one -- but with a lot of effort could make a reasonable facsimile...

and He followed through on it --- unlike most people -- he built the damn thing

more props to the kid

That's amazing. Given some real tires and staggered wheels, it'd probably be significantly quicker and easier to drive.
