how do you know where to go!! i got lost after the first couple of turns hahah...
I really want to get autoX a try, but I'm afraid that I'll lose track of the course and embarrass myself.
First of all, thanks for the compliments!
The view from the cam is a bit misleading... its not as confusing as it looks. When I first showed up I was pretty nervous, I wandered around for an hour and a half before I finally asked to ride with someone to get a feel for the track. From the spectator's view.. it looks like a sea of cones, but once you get out there it all starts to make sense. Luckily, we have one of the best cars for this type of event so you will most likely see other s2ks out there. I ended up meeting a fellow s2ker who was more than happy to show me the ropes. I let him drive me around the course in my own car for the first run.. I really wanted to see what my car could do with a good driver before I tried it. The car did quite well considering the crappy all season tires I had up front.
My 2nd and 3rd run he sat passenger and guided me through the course. Of course, I took it easy the first time around to get a feel for it, ran a 51.xx second lap. After each run my confidence kept building and by the last run you can see that I was pushing the car pretty hard, throwing the car a bit sideways to steer with the throttle instead of the crappy front tires. Ended up running a 47.1xx second lap on my last run.
The worst thing that can happen is you take out a few cones. I was lucky enough to avoid hitting any
but it really isn't a big deal. There were plenty of people out there hitting cones and losing control... it is all part of learning.
