My Plasti Dip'd S2000!
Hey everyone!
I'm a proud new S2000 owner as of 1 week ago and I've already been busy! I bought the S2k as my weekend/toy car. I got a great deal on a 01 Spa Yellow, however, this one had fender damage and I knew going in that I'd need to replace the fenders. I know getting fenders properly color matched can get expensive, so I thought this would be a great chance to save some money AND turn my S2k into a white one (my favorite color for them). Here's my journey of it:
Not only am I a fan of the white S2k, but of the tan interior as well. Might as well kill two birds w/ one stone and do an interior swap as well! NOTE: the door jams were the only "interior" area of the car I painted white.
Prepped/before:

After:

Fender Swap time!

All prepped to dipped:

After first coat:

5 coats in:

All done!

As you can see, I still have some tear down and cleanup to do but it is 95% done. I just finished up this morning. Prep time was about 1.5 hours and spray time was about 5-6 hours this morning. Used a total of 3.5 gallons of prethinned dip from dipyourcar.com. It was a total of 8 coats w/ about 10 on the fenders to get them to match since they were black.
Overall, I am EXTREMELY happy w/ how everything turned out. I'll be sure to get some more pics later after I get everything cleaned up. If anyone has any questions or comments please feel free to ask!
Thanks for looking!

i just had to remove plasti dip from 1 rim that came out sloppy, it took forever, i cannot image trying to ever remove it from an entire car.
not my style but it looks alright, deffinately better than multi colored panels

I'm guessing you didn't do it thick enough. I sprayed a good number of layers on my OEM top and then took it off a day later. Came off entirely in one piece in <10 minutes.
Yep, definitely is, I was probably a good ~10 thin layers into the spray when I decided against keeping it. If you do it thin it'll start to rip/tear and become an absolute pain to take off.
Other thing is if you weren't on a clean or waxed wheel I could see debris causing issues.

THIS
The thicker it's applied, the easier it is to remove. Wheels are tough bc you don't want to run it on the spokes and what not, but the thicker, the better with this stuff.

Not to mention, driving hard at tracks or auto X will melt your plastic dip on your wheels.
