Default Narada's 1999 Silverstone

Hey guys,

Thought I should share some of my car with you all. I've had it for about a year now, and its been awesome.

In short: I've been running Circuit Club (we organise trackdays etc - www.circuitclub.com.au) for over 6 years now, and have driven many different cars. But the funny thing is, I have never really modified a car before.

So this is my first stab at it. And I'm so excited! So far, all I have done is rims, and I was sooo excited putting them on, and constantly stare at them whenever I walk out of the house.

Here is what I wrote on the CC website earlier

Well if there was a car that was perfect for me at this point in time, it has to be the S2000. Money, platform, number of seats, modding platform… I think it’s gonna be a match made in heaven.

For the few who know me, you would know that I bought this car about a year ago and that I had come from a Renault Sport Clio that was completely stock.

I chose this car particularly for its notorious handling characteristics – it’s an oversteer monster. No, it’s no drifter – the VTEC motor produces too little power, and torque, to get some tyre smoking action, but this thing snap oversteers.

So coming from an understeering pig of a front wheel driver, I wanted to improve my braking and corner entry skills, and for that, the S is the best car available. Brake too late and hard, and the rear end will snap on you. Turn in too aggressively, the rear end will snap away from you. Be too soft? The car will drop out of VTEC and you will be slower than a 13hp Swift.

The past year has been very interesting, and over the few Trackdays I get to go to these days (ones where I actually drive!), I’ve learnt a lot about turn-in oversteer, and have a fair understanding of how much I want or need to go fast.

With an easy 1m 12s laptime at Wakefield Park under my belt though, I think its time that I start to modify it. While I actually think I know a lot about modding cars, funnily enough, I have never done so before!

The goal: spend as little money as possible but get some really good gains from every mod I put on!
This is what it looked like when I first bought it

Clutch needed fixing, so bought a spoon flywheel... After buying this, I had to change gears faster because the revs would drop so fast! (well faster than normal)

My first set of brake pads lasted only 10,000kms. They were Ferodo DS2500, and stopped great, but my mechanic reckons I generate too much temperature in my brakes, so I upgraded to a more racing style pad (winmax zelos? Thats what the box says). Time will tell if they last longer or not.

Then I got some new rims... FINALLY!

They are Advan RS rims, with Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 tyres. 17x7.5 +43 at the front and 17x8.5 +50 at the rear.

It will be interesting to see how the car's balance will change after switching to a staggered set up, but with wider track and much better tyres, one things for sure - it has to go faster.

And another thing is for sure... It looks frikkin' unreal! Every time I walk out of the house and look at the car, I kinda just stand there for a few seconds and stare a little.

I had 18x7 rims with BF Goodrich Gforce Sport tyres, and an amuse catback in this video, although i've done similar laptimes without the exhaust too (that lap was pretty messy lol)
