Ok, so I forked out a lot of dough to be different. I special ordered the HKS 4-1 Racing Header, and HKS Racing Suction Kit from Japan.
Here are some photos of everything installed. I have better pics of the header with a side by side comparison of the HKS, Spoon, and OEM exhaust manifolds. I will post these up a little later.
As you can see, when used with the Carbing Rad Cooling Plate, it looks to be very effective drawing cold air to the filter element. We decided to take the plastic tray off located in front of the radiator to allow the scoop to actually draw in cold air. If anyone has purchased the Carbing plate, please don't forget to take this piece off, or it wouldn't really make any sense to have it.
For the US spec LHD S2000's we had to modify the tray to allow for the A/C lines to get through. Here are some pics of the mod. It really wasn't too hard to do.
Because of the lines, we had to use a smaller air filter element. The kit came with a 200mm filter but we had to step down to the 150mm to actually make fit.
The car seems to breath much easier in the upper RPM range, the intake is very pronounced under acceleration, mid range seems to have gotten better, but all out top end is where I can see the most difference.
Installation of the Spoon throttle body, and HKS Iridium plugs definitely helped out. I am also using the HKS Hiper Exhaust system.
We will be installing the HKS Circle Earth System (grounding system), HKS Twin Power Ignition, and hopefully the HKS FCON V Pro when we get the Power Writer software dialed in.
I have not yet dyno'ed after the installation of all these mods, but we did baseline at 201 hp. I am very anxious to see what gains we have achieved.
