Nice, get that tesla now before your states says no.
In a lot of states car manufacturers can not sell cars directly to the public, they most go through franchised dealers, Telsa does not have any franchised dealers. most state legislatures were this is not the case are getting a lot of pressure from franchise dealers to make it illegal
And..

Have had the car for since last Friday and I can't stop driving it. It's a BLAST to drive. Honestly, I don't miss driving the S2000's.
I'll get more pics soon, interior included.
As for not being able to be sold directly in states, that's somewhat true. Some states have disallowed Tesla from selling direct. HOWEVER, customers are not forced to go to dealerships to buy....they can go online and by for themselves.
Ex., IL does not have a ban on selling these cars through stores, however, when you visit a Tesla store, the sales guy isn't really a sales guy; and he/she is not processing the buy. The associate walks you through the car, accompanies you on a test drive, and if/when you're ready to buy, assists you through the configuration process and deposit process that takes place on-line.
It was truly like going to the Microsoft store (actually more like the Apple store, you don't need to make appointments to go to the Microsoft store,
).
NC and TX have bans on stores selling these cars....it doesn't stop customers from ordering online or going into a neighboring state to buy them. Since they are cars, they can be registered accordingly with the state's DMV. I'm glad that Tesla is pushing boundaries with this car, both with the product itself and secondly with the distribution channel. I'd really wish politicians would get out of the way for interstate commerce, especially for an auto company that is American, manufactures American and helps us wean off oil (foreign and domestic). Plus I'm all for expanding an industry segment that's been left for commercial product as oppose to consumer goods....that will have a tremendous affect on automotive exports; we beat China to something big in regards to manufacturing. We don't get to say that too often these days.

I haven't updated this thread in a minute....I don't have interior pics just yet. I'll take some this weekend.
We've had this car a couple weeks over a month now. We LOVE the car. This is the first car since first getting the S2000 back in 2000 that my wife has loved her car. We've had BMW's, Lexuses, Toyotas, and other Hondas in between. This was supposed to be her car, but unfortunately, I love driving this so much that we had to come to an agreement. When I need to drive a lot on a given day, or need to impress a prospective client at lunch where I can have a valet 'keep it up front', I get to take the car. Otherwise she takes the car.
When Tesla comes out with the Model X, we'll be ordering one. My wife will have the Model X, I'll get to keep the Model S as all mine!

I've got some mods already planned, but nothing over the top or extreme. I want to make a custom M3 CSL style add-on spoiler for the hatch lid, a J's Racing inspired S2000 half lip, and re-lip a set of Weds Kranze Borphes and JP Scaras I have sitting around for this car. I also plan to do the air-suspension lowering mod so that it sits about an 1" lower on normal stance, and about 2" lower at highway speed.
If they make this, I'll be getting it too. It's only a rendering....not even an concept.
