Hey its very heavy! I have a gas strut on it now but I'll be installing an actuator to open and close it, because the gas struts are either to strong or to weak. No happy medium with those things.
I hope to have the actuator set up by the Import Expressions show but well see. The project for this winter is almost done, just a few things left to do to finish it for the show. Like cleaning!! OMG the dust!
If it's just for show, it's cool; but mounting amps upside down isn't really the best idea. And the soundstage will be off because of the rear speakers (but that's another thread)
The entire system is changed out. I'll post more pics later on, to show you the rest.
The Alpine set up will allow us to tune the speaker so that its as good as can be had in a drop top. No car is really a good sound stage...but like you said that's another story. I will tell you this, it sounds awesome! The rear speakers can easily be heard though the vents in the head rest and the mid-bass is great they do an awesome job of filling in the dead zone behind the seats. The doors sound great as well! Now that I've heard the S with rear speakers I would never go back to not having them.
Again I'll take some better pics and post them up a little later when I get home.
Arent your amps going to heat up since they are on your thrunk? The thrunk become very hot when the sun is right on it? wouldn't that be an issue with your current install?
The reason why I ask, is I wanted to do the same thing, but my sound system guy told me that he wont do it, because it will cauz problemes since the thrunk becomes very hot in summer.
