What did I do with the space... roll-bar. If you want it to look nice, I say put the OE plastics back in (which adds weight) or have the area professionally painted (does not add weight).

I did this. it's removable for the most part... once the top is off, that is.

I've been in the design phase of a roll bar that has rear legs that go where the softtop would be and the main hoop would be at the same location as the stock hoops.

will probably begin test fitting some pipes on my vacation here in a few weeks.

how did you build the mount for the speakers? Do you have anything under them so it's enclosed at all? Can I see that out of the car?

It's probably best for audio additions.

i just redid it. instead of wood, I laid fiberglass in the space so it fits better and uses all of the available space in the corner and it's fully enclosed now.

and with the speaker, weighs maybe 15lbs.

Flush and doesn't move, especially with top on. So don't need to hard mount it in the space.

Shows the amp and the connection to the box. easy to disconnect and remove once the top is off.

The end where the passenger seat is. The hardtiop latches touch the end, but doesn't interfere at all.

Out of car. it's 95% wrapped with that carpet stuff. I used spray adhesive to get it to follow the contour of the fiberglass.

Another shot.

I only have maybe 2 layers of fiberglass... so it's not the strongest box ever (it seems on average you want to use 6+ layers).
I could build another for behind the driver's seat, but, I want to have the space to carry stuff. Right now, I can fit all of the wedding camera equipment witrh me (tripod, camcorder, monitor, lens, follow focus equipment, batteries, tapes, etc, etc, etc)
