I'm driving down Broadway Street, Oakland. In front of Clorox's HQ, I see this. I got out and took the pic.

That's wrong... just wrong. I remember when I was in elementary school, two kids were picked each day to put up the flag. I was always excited when it was my turn to do it, but I used to be so nervous that I would do something wrong, or accidentally let the flag touch the ground. Seems like people these days just don't give a crap.

I may be wrong, but sometimes I believe they place the flag upside down as a sign of mourning, after there has been some fatal conflict that affects Americans. I saw a ton of them in military pics (on soldiers shoulders too) when we were attacking overseas last year....

i've ran many funeral details and color guards in my day, but i'll keep from quoting MCO P10520.3B (Marine Corps Order).

it is sad, and what's worse is i see people in the pic just walking by. and yes, half mast is what you're thinking of, which is technically seeing a flag at any position other than at its peak, but usually half way down the flag pole. it's done as both mourning and rememberance, depending on the circumstances.

wantone, tell me YOU fixed it after the pics. please.

I too read somewhere that flying that flag upside down is supposed to indicate a sign of distress... like the nation is in a state of distress. I could be wrong though
