The official 16 inch on S2000 Thread
Curious on your opinion why? GTmotoring did a test on 16 and 17 and 17 was half a second quicker around one of their tracks...idk about tires so it might be a useless test

In general the bigger the wheel the more sensitive the handling becomes and also the car becomes more easily disturbed by surface imperfections. There is a sweetspot for every setup but I think 16's and 17's are optimal for our cars.
For the most part, as NA1NSXR said, a taller sidewall will make the car more forgiving, and the point of breaking traction will be a much smoother, slower, and easier to control event. As for the 16 vs 17 s2k comparison, keep in mind that the 16 were running 205/225 and the 17's had 225/245, so there was more rubber on the road as well.
I still think that the stiffer sidewalls of the 17 will offer a better feel, less flex meaning that less camber is required, and quicker direction changes.
I will say that different suspension setups will favor one or the other. But if you gave two companies each an s2k, and said all that they could change was the suspension, and that one of them had to have 16's and the other had to have 17's, I would assume that the 17's would be faster even if they ran the same width tire.
