This has been discussed many times on the board, but here is my story.
When I picked up my car I drove it around to the service department for an alignment check and stood around talking to all the mechanics about the S2000 - mine was the first '04 they had sold. I used to have an '02 and did the proper waiting to V-tech and in my discussions with the Honda mechanics they all agreed to wait a couple of hundred miles letting the rings seat but basically to break it in as you are going to drive it!
Surprised me... so I did! After I put about 300 miles on it I took it to red-line and never looked back. One thing I have noticed is with my "02 I used about a quart of oil every 1500 miles, but with my '04 I have not used any oil at all and I'm getting close to 4500 miles on it.
