Please get your facts straight and stop spreading false info.

The Basic steps to obtain a silencer/suppressor:
• Make sure you can own one in your state
• Pick a silencer to buy
• Find a Class 3 Dealer
• Fill out and complete the required paperwork IN DUPLICATE
• If an individual, obtain Law Enforcement signature on the forms
be fingerprinted and paste or tape two photographs of yourself
onto the forms
• If a Corporation or Trust, you may skip the above step
• Pay the $200 Transfer Tax to BATFE
• Wait for your paperwork to clear
• Fill out a ATF Form 4473
• Take your silencer home

Where did i mess up? " its legal to own a supressor but once you attach a supressor it becomes illegal without a class 3 licence. You obtain that licence from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) it costs $200 and you gotta have a very clean record to obtain the license."

never said i was a self proclaimed knowledgeable source on the subject. i'm glad someone knows. i own A gun not a multitude of firearms

You NRA guys take such an offense to someone knowing a little "less" than you guys.

Most states (the proper ones) you do not need a license. Wait about 10-15 mins for the instant background check. If you pass, pay for the gun and that's it. I also get the question, "Is that thing registered?" Again, most state you do not need to register any of you guns.

1. Clean record, no felonys.
2. American citizen.
3. Cash to buy one.

That whole sentence is wrong, that's where you messed up .

The suppressor itself is a NFA item. If you don't do the paperwork, pay the tax stamp, and pass the background check then you cannot have one in your possession regardless of whether it is attached to anything or not.
