I remember reading up on it once. There was actually a video to go with the picture. Apparently he was using his OEM lugnuts with aftermarket wheels, there wasn't enough thread to properly hold them.

according to RED_MX5, who i think is in the guy's SCCA region, his lugs were metric and his studs were standard
