It happens to 07+ STi. I haven't met anyone personally that didn't get a ringland failure on a 07+. To the OP, good luck!

I had an '08 STI, it's great to have low RPM torque!

I put 46K miles in 2 years on mine (purchased brand new) and never had an issue. Subaru "fixed" the ring land issue by doing a recall and installing a new fuel map. I never did the recall to mine and bought a Cobb Accessport with an off the shelf stage 1 map which is highly recommended as the stock corrected map still sucks. Power delivery is much smoother with the Cobb AP. I rarely took mine over 5000 RPM anyway. Definitely a fun car, I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Have been doing some research about that. But, that's what a warranty is for. I don't plan on modifying this car anyways.

Stupid question time: Can you get 99 octane fuel in America easily? When I went to florida on holiday one year the octane ratings were all so low.

Anyway, enjoy your STi mate it's amazing

here most all places 93 is the highest octane that you can get with out it being qualified as race gas. but any form of race gas is easy to come across it is just if your wallet can support it. and great car. i would take one in a heart beat.

So you run your S2K's on 93 octane!? They are mapped to run on that? Wonder why your fuel is so diluted out there, albeit a load cheaper too. Anyway going off topic now, don't want to detract any attention away from the lovely STi
