If you do it tastefully it will look nice. All depends on the final product.

I tinted my bro's 350Z tail lights with the same overlay that bluebatmobile uses. His tails came out great, it makes the back look much more aggressive on his car. I have a huge roll of the tint left over, but I never had any interest to tint my tail lights so I never tried it. I don't really like the tinted look on the S because the tail lights aren't red, so there isn't enough contrast behind the tint. Just my opinion though.
