pic request: polished valve & plug covers
I'm looking for some pics of polished valve covers and spark plug covers. Preferably someone who has both done, but either one will do. Also looking for tips on how to do it myself as well.
TIA

I was just browsing around on ebay and found this polished valve cover, I am not the seller of this, just thought I would throw it out there to someone who might be looking for one!

I've done a few by hand, just as a spare time project, not because I was trying to make money or anything.
It's pretty intensive to do it yourself, prepare to invest many hours. And unless you have some sort of buffing wheel (a dremel doesn't count) you're not going to get the results you're looking for.
I start with a file, taking off any flash or extra material that looks like it wouldn't be there on a billet piece.
After that, wetsanding. I started with 80 grit, then 120, 240, 400, 600, 1000, 2000. Turn the direction your sanding by 90 degrees inbetween grits, makes it easy to see where you still have work to do.
Then move to a wheel with tripoli. You could probably stop there, but it you want as much or more pop then chrome go to a loose wheel and white rouge compound.
The last few I did were for H22's, and those were probably far harder than an F series would be. It would take me about a weekend to do one from striping hte OEM coating to finished piece.

i agree the polished valve covers look clean! its funny, when i had a b-series swap in my ek, you want the red valve cover, now you get a car that comes stock with the red valve cover, you want it polished! polished valve cover w/ap1 black spark plug cover looks best!
