I'm not sure why everyone says it'll get dirty.

We've been having rain since March here in Texas and I wash my car once a week. My valve cover is rarely dirty at all, even after driving in constantly wet conditions.

With regular (weekly) engine bay cleaning/wipedowns, it shouldn't be an issue at all.
