its been a great car. ive owned it since 02/08, put almost 10k on it and all ive replaced is a serp belt for $30.

research on M3forum.net and bimmerforums.com. they are a relaible car, they are just different than japanense cars. you can change the oil on a civic and do nothing but drive it and go 100k no problem. BMW's arent like that. you need to do routine maintance every 30-40k but if you follow that program they will run a long time. many online stores sell parts kit for these tune ups for less than $150 and you can do the work yourself, these cars are easy to wrench on.

my M3 has 117k with all factory recommened maintance done its been flawless the whole 117k. there are pleny of other 150k+ m3's out there. compared to the s2k, your getting a car thats more "mature" more settled. power come on hard at 3k, and stays stong till 6500rpms. torque is plentiful, and the handling is very good, even 10+yrs later.

look for a well cared for car, with the usual problem areas addressed(cooling system/suspension bushings/rear strut mounts) and you'll have a great daily. they also make some good power with minor mods. I/H/E/tune is usually 225-230whp, maybe 240whp if the car is healthy. add cams and your 260whp+.

you'll also love the offsets that are possible with these cars. +25 is very common. they are also cheap to mod in comparison to s2k's.

that being said, i love mine to death. i dont ever plan on selling it. its been a great car and has almost the same fun to drive factory as the s2k, almost. mines a 97 and i have heated seats/back, 8 speaker sound with dual subs, dual power seats, auto climate control with dual zones, power sunroof, one touch windows all around. great standard features...well i guess it should have, my car stickered for 46k in 97. lolz

PM me if you ever need help, or maybe some thoughts on a car. i researched for 6months on E36 M3's before i bought one, i know every inch of these cars.
