Here's a before (Honda Ti) and after (Civic Type R) pic of my knobs. The new knob sits perfectly straight without the locking nut, which reduced the throws by a significant amount. Based on HTG's post about the CR knob, I would estimate 14 mm + the height of the locking nut.
It is a bit lighter than the Ti knob, so the shifts require more effort. But I could get used to it. The shifts feel very direct, which may border on "notchy" for some.

I've had this one since they came out. Even swapped it when they recalled them for thread breaking. It is too light but the main reason I'm keeping it is it feels good and it doesn't heat up here in hot hell AZ. Any other metal would burn your hand in the summer.
word, im using the same one. Lightness doesnt bother me.....
