wow, I thought most of the people on this board were all about JDM this and that and whatever. It's quite popular to have mismatched rims on cars due to going through multiple sets of tires. People in the AE86 community do it all the time when they go to drift events or other track days. On a track what difference does it make whether the rims are mismatched or not front and rear at least. That S2k with the wierd paint is a Falken Tire car. I take it at least some people have seen the Falken R34 GTR that races endurance events in Japan and Europe, it has the same paint.

As far as how dirty all the cars are and whatnot. People in Japan use their cars, and they use them up. It's just not possible for the average person to baby their car there like we can here. Garages are not that common and it rains all the time, so between the two every thing gets used pretty hard and it's not common for a person to have more than one car. You go to a track event like that and almost none of the cars were trailered there. They were all driven there on S compound tires.

Do you guys even know who Keiichi Tsuchiya is?

Haha, chill out turbo... no need to get all worked up over the responses.. No one made any comments on the dirtyness of the cars in the pictures you took.

I, for one, am not a fan for the so-called JDM look. The cars all look kind of ghetto imo with those big ugly wings and funky paint schemes. I understand that the wings are actually functional on the track and that most of the mods done to those cars are functional even if they are asthetically unpleasing so I won't make fun.

Thankfully, I didn't see many of those cars on the road when I went back to Japan to visit family.

And yes, a good many of us know who Tsuchiya is. Can we say JGTC and Best motoring? It's cool that you got to snap a picture with him but don't get all hot and bothered with the lack of responses to this post..

When I made the dirty car comment, I was trying to explain that you hardly ever see any cars in Japan that are babied like you do here. I mean maybe if someone has a Ferrari or Benz or something but seriously, I saw beat S2000's in quite a few places. As well as every other car GTR's, EVO's, STi, Type R anything. If someone sees pictures from Japan of REAL cars that are used in Japan don't expect them to be 2nd or 3rd cars like we have in the US, it just doesn't happen. They're all used hard. No one complains about getting a scratch on their Volk rims like people would here, they wear it with pride.

I was trying to explain why I was surprised that on a board where the "JDM" style that people talk about is probably the most prevelent of any board I visit that there is someone surprised that a real car being used on a track in Japan has different sets of rims on it. In fact it's very common. Sorry if it came out the wrong way or as being condesending.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the pictures whatever car you choose to drive. I have a few friends that have S2000's. Personally I think they're awesome cars. I have a WRX and an AE86 for my toy cars.

I was there on business. Even if I were there on vacation, the only Honda I have is my company lease car which is a Civic LX so it wouldn't be high on my priority list. I'd rather go see Top Secret and Mine's and some AE86 shops although Mugen would probably be cool. Can you give me an address? If it's relatively close to Utsunomiya then maybe I can make it there next time I'm in Japan. I guess the address is probably on the Japanese website.
