Just sand it down with progressively finer grits then buff. I did the sanding by hand so it took several hours. Used a flat file to remove the casting marks. There is one great big one on the right side. I skipped the underside completely.
It gets to the point of diminishing returns so I could have done much more but really.......it's only my toy and I ran out of beer and time.
i have an extra intake manifold that i'd like to get this done to also. i talked to someone at proflow about a year ago to get this done and they said around $75. i figured i'd do it soon, but i haven't. its still on my wish list though . even though i've read that nothing much happens, i wanted to get it extrude hone'd too while i was at it. i'm sure this is a stupid question, but you have the hondata - intake manifold gasket, right?
Careful with the extrude honing. It changes the very critical runner volume. You can change the plenum volume but if you mess with the tuned runners you will loose performance in a big way. Someone in New York (maybe shaner?) did it a couple of years ago and couldn't use the manifold because it ruined the performance.
Hondata yes.
If you can get it polished for $75 then I figure my time at about $6 or $8 an hour. If you mean matching the TB to the manifold for $75 well, thats a little steep. I would think $35 or $50 would be about the going price for a first rate job.
that looks real nice. I am picking up a spare intake manifold so that I can do the same thing myself. I just ordered a vortech supercharger and I plan on pro flow TB and matching the plenum up with the TB.
