That sucks!
I've been in that situation before at a HPDE when the car in front gets off line and tries to get back on and it's not clear to do so. Luckily, the driver finally realized my S2k was there and let me go by. It scared the crap out of me because this driver clearly wanted to get back on the track until he realized my car S2K was right there beside his car.
