hmm... excuse me if i'm wrong, but i think it's more effective without the heat shield.

i think the idea of that cai is to have some kind of metal cannister (i dunno what, al? stainless steel?)
right above where the air gets in, to cool it down- hence "cai."

is it correct?

I just installed installed mine over the weekend. I had been driving with the stock airbox cover off b/c I love the sound but I didn't love the power loss. The PRM is excellent. It sounds amazing, and the gains can be felt when accelerating at speed. The piece weighs 3lbs and you won't believe how heavy all the stock airbox parts are when you remove them. The weight savings alone makes this a good upgrade. Easy install as well. I was disappointed with the instructions but if you have a picture of someone's engine bay who has it installed it's a breeze. No cutting, no risk of hydrolock, nice gains, nice weight reduction, phenominal sound. Worth every penny if you ask me...

I've got the PRM as well...the instructions were kinda bad, so it took a little longer to install than expected. The sound at WOT and VTEC of the PRM is awesome!! I love it!! Again the gains can be felt on acceleration. The PRM is well worth the money.

Yes that whole piece wrapped in insulation is plastic and KNN filter inside it. See Suzuka Blue colored piece in 2nd pic, it's plastic.
