when i watch tv or read korean books, they never use a single chinese text, but in some formal events they use a few words here and there?

or did they also "borrowed" some like the japanese?

The Koreans borrowed it like the Japanese, but they don't use it to that extent. I've seen some simple Hanja (what they call it, like kanji) in korean newspapers for dates and small stuff etc. I'm chinese btw.
