Perhaps because they are heavy? Actually, I really don't know about this and had always wondered. From the looks of it, they do look heavy, but that's not to say they look bad.

The exhaust with test pipe is a full 3inch to the header. It's pretty loud but noise it makes is amazing. not bad for 795 shipped
The rears are 18x11.5 on 285/30/18 tires, Dan at ccw weighed them at 43lbs or 46lbs I believe with air in tires.
Def not bad, but what is this quarter mile you speak of? I sadly don't live my life a quarter mile at a time like you I guess. it's just a little old Honda that I daily drive to and from work.

18x10 fronts 225/40/18 (yeah yeah yeah)
18x11.5 rears 285/30/18
