that's a good try, but the new NY plates don't have any depth, they really are flat. When I got mine my wife thought it was fake. They look like you could print them out on a Laser Printer.

It's true. When I got my first set of custom plates, They were flat. But I think regular standard issue NY plates have raised letters and numbers. They also came in that same exact envelope. I doubt they're fake plates.

There was an article in the local newspaper a while back. The NYSDMV took back a womans license plates and issued her new standard ones because someone got all offended and raised a big stink about them. The woman apparently really loved the Adirondack Mountains enough to get plates that read "ADKLUVER". I wonder where the complaintant's mind was.

Yup, correct, all custom plates are flat. Standard issue still have raised letters/numbers. I have no doubt that these are real, and the person who got them just didn't consider all the possible implications. If you go to the nysdmv website you can still order PLZ NGGA.
