If you figured someone would "latch" onto this, then why did you say it in the first place or not choose to edit it out of your post? It would seem that you are aware of the fact that you made a patently offensive statement and could care less.
In case you are wondering (or care), that is still offensive... I lost even more respect for you after you rationalized your first statement.
The only reason why I am saying anything is because I am black (I don't drive a 300 with 22s btw ), and you should realize that you should not make such vulgar remarks about any group just because you think there may not be anyone of that group present. You don't have to do everything politically correct, but you should watch what you say a bit more cautiously. You may come across as a bigot otherwise.
...oh, and to bring it back to your original statement, even if you were to somehow validate your claim of more black people driving 300s with 22s, do you feel the need to make a sweeping generalization and say that the OP is trying to be black? Your statement is offensive regardless of how you try to apply logic and rationale. Either retract it, apologize, or stand by it and accept the title of bigot; Don't confuse things further please.
Yeesh- and people try to say there is no problem with race relations still. As long as people still make statements like this without caring about impact there will always be problems.

I'm not racist nor am I bigoted. To me, the car (and the look) reminds me of a 300C on 22s (or 23s or 24s, as the case may be). It's the wrong look for the car, period.

I'm sorry you felt offended. Would you have been offended if I said that he was trying to copy the Mexicans with their lowriders as well? My wife is Mexican, by the way, and she couldn't care less.

It wasn't an INSULT, it was a comment that he was trying to make the car something it is not and in the process, ends up looking like he's trying too hard to be something he is not.

You took it as a bad connotation. I never said anything negative about being black, driving a 300C on 22s, or anything else related to you. I merely made a comment about the perception that car with those wheels ends up giving (to me, at least). Perhaps you have a negative connotation that you'd like to share, which would perhaps explain why you took offense at all....

Never forget that an insult is only an insult if you take it as such. If you refer back to what I said, you'll see no insult implied or suggested. You merely took it as one. The fault lies not in what was said but rather how you took it.
