Yes, they are. There will be three cars built off of the upcoming RX-8 platform, the RX-8, the next Miata and the 4th generation RX-7. The new RX-7 will adhere to its roots, it will be a strict 2 seater, have a turbo RENESIS rotary engine, and be lightweight. The RX-8 is coming out in about a year from now, and a turbo version of that car's RENESIS engine is currently under development. That engine will find its way under the hood of the RX-7 as well. The question is will the Miata be offered in rotary form? With 250hp, it will compete directly with the S2000. I sure hope they offer it with a lot more power.
Anyways, expect sweet things to come to market for you rotary heads.
