I never used the paddles back when I owned it ... the shifter works just fine (although its not as fun since its just up and down) .. but the time it takes to change gears in S6 I will tell you is crazy ... and the rev matching sound when you down shift is intoxicating in the tunnels ...
Couldn't agree more. The rev matching was my favorite part. I just prefer the manual, especially when it comes to maintenance(worry free).

I absolutely love smg. This idea is taken from formula1 race cars and are featured in many exotic high-end vehicles.

Reasons why I think SMG is great!

- the shift response is in-sync with your throttle so when you are going fast it shifts fast and vice versa.
- It is more luxurious in both cosmetic and purpose department
- the smg boot looks 10000x better than the manual.
- i dont have to worry about grinding or missing gears on shifts
- the paddle shift idea are futuristic technology that are used in the present so you basically are ahead of the game.
- of course, as the other person stated, "the rev matching sound when you down shift is intoxicating".
- just because its only (+) (-) it is still fun to drive. the exhilarating experience from driving such a car comes more from the performance itself rather than shifting gears. think about it, do you have fun shifting gears in a 89 geo prizm. lol

- Don't buy into the whole "smg problems". every car has its problem. There are just as many SMG owners as manuals. yes, it will be costly to fix when there is a problem (its a bmw) and i hope that day will never come but as of now it is smooth as ever.

oh... I dont' sit like that, it was only for the pictures. if anything I would look like grandpa with the seat straight up because i'm pretty short.

Bro SMG is an ADDITIONAL possible problem. There are relays, sensors, switches and all that associated with the SMG vs. the normal manual.

Just to give you an idea, the SMG has a potential SMG pump failure whereas the regular manual does not. I've read stores where people had to fork out 12k for a SMG failure.

Now does it mean it WILL fail more often? Of course not, but you do have more issues to worry about then a regular manual.

Anyways, have you experienced the bucking bronco yet lol. Or have you launched it yet?

What MY is your car and how much did you get it for?
