I was on supercars.net and someone said that S2000s could not drift simply because the tires were to wide.

Or too sticky!

I know most people are going to say "why did he buy this car if this is what he wants to do" - but I've been tempted to buy cheap tires and cheap rims and mount them and just go find a nice parking lot...

If I'm not mistaken, they're Mugen MF-10 wheels. So the rear's are 8.5. Don't the japanese drift cars have wider tires and still able to drift?

Crank in about 4 degrees negative camber and you'll be drifting, if that's what you're into.

Short wheelbase + Front midengine + Sticky rear tires + Excessive Toe = bad drift machine.
