S2000 on Long Beach track [pix]
This weekend I took some time to go drive the Long Beach course.
Front Straight:

Pit Area:

Well, parts of it anyway. So next Saturday William Shatner among other celebrities will be smashing their way around this course in their Celicas. Pity the poor cars.

Did it myself. The Long Beach Grand Prix track is really just Shoreline Drive. If you hurry up and get down here to Long Beach before the races get started this week-end you can drive it. Or early next week after the races before they take down all the barriers and grand stands.
I snuck down late at night and blasted through it. Love that exhaust sound blatting off the barriers and the underpass. Just like F1 baby. Ok, maybe a few mph slower.

The track uses parts of Aquarium Road, Pine Ave, Seaside Way and a section of the Arena parking lot as well as Shoreline Drive of course. Yes, in fact anyone can drive most of it, just not always in the same direction the CART cars travel.
So who's coming down this weekend? Rain could make things very entertaining! Free Friday passes are availble at Texaco stations.
