the r/c car is a Kyosho Mini-Z ... it's 1/24th scale and they come in many different body styles (the S2000 being one of them), and they are highly "mod-able" -- you can upgrade gears, shocks, tires, buy different car bodies and swap them out, etc. The detail and build quality on these are excellent.

for anyone who's interested, below are some links. the first is Kyosho's Mini-Z home site, and the second contains links that show you all the available models (everything from hondas and toyotas to ferraris, lamborghinis, formula 1 racers, etc.), and the third is an online review someone did a while ago. You can find these at hobby-type shops, online or otherwise, or you can also get them from eBay. on eBay, they seem to run anywhere from under $80-ish to $130-ish for the full kit (includes body, chassis, and transmitter), and just the body shells run from anywhere from $10 - $30, depending on the body style and popularity.
