Japan's S2000s had a 2.0L engine with a 9000rpm redline until 05. The 06 was the first year for JDM S2000s to have a 2.2L 8000rpm redline. The 04 model in Japan was renamed the AP2 due to the exterior facelift, so the American market followed as well for the 04. The American market did get the 2.2L engine in 04 though, due to criticism about the shoddy low-end torque, which is not ideal for daily driving. W00000~ happy learning
