Default S2k Shift Knob on NSX

If any of you are familiar with the NSX shift knob '01 and back, it is a clunky, funky shaped SOB that wears pretty easily. I always liked the OEM leather tube topped one in my S so I gave it a shot. The boot's a little tight due to a tear I was trying to hide, and the knob isn't perfect. So soon I will get a new knob and boot and it will look a little better. Anyways, here it is...

I tried this shiftknob last month and it looked horrible IMO so I sold it. The SOS one is the way to go. The S2k one sits way to high on the NSX. I wanted the very low sitting one and the SOS one does just that.

It actually sits lower than the stock NSX one did, which is all I was going for. Smooth metal knobs just don't do it for me, and their shapes...it's either round or blackjack shaped.

Personal preference, I guess. I just like the feel of the OEM S2k knob.

True. I like the ARC teardrop shaped ones that are countersunk or made to fit the car. Thats my preference.

Yours looks a lot better than it did on mine.

Have you ever tried a voodoo knob? Just asking because it should thread a little lower, its cheap, and it will sit a little bit lower so maybe the tear in your shift boot won't be seen.

I have the opposite....

I have the NSX type S shift knob (same as the SOS) on the s2000.......sits high but makes the transmission feel less notchy. ARC's teardrop feels too small....

Thanks.

And Xclusive, I actually had to roll the boot over on the lever to hide the tear. The stock knob has tabs on it that clip into a ring on the boot. When removing the ring, the boot ripped and that was that. So a different knob would sit about the same, just lower and with more boot bunched up. And I swear I looked at every knob out there and nothing blew my skirt up...and I was familiar with the S knob anyways.

The WB/Bugs Bunny badge is from the Warner Brothers edition Chevy Venture. Took me forever to weasel one. The dealers all wanted a VIN number and registration . Couldn't bring myself to put it on the body of the car, so there it sits on the ashtray lid .

Do you have any interior shots of your car that show how high your shift knob is?
