Sears Point and Laguna track vids
Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you know that I finally got around to digitizing and mpeg'ing some of the video from the BMW CCA Laguna Seca school and NASA Sears Point HPDE this weekend. Three track days in a row was a touch tiring, but a blast nonetheless!
The BMW CCA school was great, and I got a lot of great instruction. I learned quite a few things there that were very useful to me thought the weekend. Always keeping your hands planted at 9 and 3 (never "shuffling"), even mid-corner, was particularly helpful in keeping smooth. The only bummer was that I wasn't able to push it very hard, 'cause the instructors force you to take it back a notch. Normally, I'd say that would be very helpful, but I felt a tiny bit as though I wasn't able to get as much on-the-limit instruction as I'd have liked.
As for the NASA event, it was my second weekend running Sears Point, so I was starting to feel more comfortable with the course. I was definitely being more consistent and, as a result, was going faster. Because of the fact that I was lapping faster this time (fairly consistent 1:33s), the corners that I used to have a good hold on became much more difficult. For example turn two (which is a cresting right-hander) no longer felt good to me, and it had once been one of my best turns. Because I was going faster, I was getting lighter off of the crest and was understeering more. Because of this, I had to completely change my line through that corner. It ended up working out great, but not before some experimentation led to a gentle spin. Similar adjustments had to be made throughout the track. The fact that there were tons of interesting cars there (360 Challenge, Diablo, Elise, Venom 650R, Z06s, etc) was icing on the cake. What a blast!
In any case, here are a couple of videos from the day. There are a few more on my web site (both big and small versions) along with a ton of photos, so head there if you want to check those out. I posted a full lap of Laguna Seca + other media from the 10/26 BMW CCA school as well if anyone's interested.
A full in-car lap of a good run with a modded old school Porsche 911 Turbo equipped with R tires. Dang, I need a set of Hoosiers!

Passing some cars coming from turns 4 through 6

Turned in just a tad too early in 6, then hit a bump at the apex. Drifed through the better part of the exit, but luckily was able to save it.

Remember that spin in turn two that I mentioned? Well, here it is...

Again, there are more vids at my web site, including the Laguna Seca lap, which you can browse to here: http://homepage.mac.com/kbaillie/index.html
Now I'm just looking forward to Krazik's next S2000 track day!!!
Hope you enjoy!
Cheers,
Kevin

Cool, I'm still getting used to where to post stuff on this board. Off topic, photo gallery, general discussion, etc. So many choices! I'll learn soon enough though

Alright, the videos and site are back up! The site was being hit so hard that my admin shut the web server down
Thanks to my pal Allan for hosting the lions share of the videos! The links in the post above have been modified to point to the correct location. Enjoy!
BTW - any comments on my line or driving style would be more than appreciated!
