So, had a chance to get my bodyshop paint the hood, while it was getting some body work done. The seibon hood's clear coat came off, and it started to yellow after about 4 years (which is decent).

Here are some pix. Not the greatest picture, or an art shot, but you can see as reference. You can see the weave if you look at it at an angle, and the paint seem brighter for some reason. Don't say I didn't contribute.

 

Yeah those things are gel coated unfortunately.. No way to really maintain it as far as I know. Eventually I'll do the same to my hard top and hood. looks good.

 

Im actually happy with the fact that it lasted this long.

It did rust my battery cover and whitened my airbox, but overall, good stuff

You could always vinyl wrap if you are looking for a carbon fiber finish instead of painting black. You seem happy with painting it black tho.

 

 

I've been contemplating doing this for my berlina for some time now and I'm still on the fence about doing it. I'll probably end up painting it when the clear coat goes to crap like in your case. Thanks for the contribution, nonetheless.
