The "STi" branding isn't like a "Type-R" branding. Its more equivalent to "TRD" and "Nismo." It's like if you add spoon parts to your honda and you put a spoon sticker on your car... it's the same idea.

I think STI is actually like a Type R, they both come from the factory better than their base models, the WRX and Integras. Just beacuse you put Type R parts on an Integra dosn't make it a Type R. Same thing goes with the STI.
For a second I almost thought that WRX was an STi until I saw the wing and the hoodscoop...
