Required in the state of VA, and they are really strict about it. Guess it really depends on where in VA he lives, but here in FFX county...it's a BIG no-no to drive without a front tag.

Yeah it is required but I got my miata from NC so it didn't have the front plate bracket drilled in. I've been pulled over once already if I get pull over again I'm going to get mazda to drill my bumper

and put the plate on.
