Default SONY DSC-R1

I'm about to purchase a new camera. I have a sony T1 cybershot and it's great to carry around since it so small. But I'm looking for something bigger and better. I was doing some reading on the Sony R1 and it seems to be a nice camera. I found it on the net for $465 and after shipping it's about $500. Is there anything else on the market right now that can compete with that price?

All I really know about this camera is that it's 10mega pix and 5x zoom. I did lots of reading on it but it was really foreign to me since I know nothing about cameras.

I want something that I can point and shoot at something and get a great picture.

Any comments or advise would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

i have the dsc-h1 and have been satisified. the r1 is probably overkill for a point and shoot camera. the new h2 would be a good upgrade from your t1, giving you manual controls, but not overwhelming you with options.

where did you find an r1 for under $500? pm me please.

Here's the link to the site I purchased my camera from. I'll let you know how the order goes through. From the reviews I got from the company everyone seemed satisfied by there service.

If you do a search for Sony R1 with google it should show up as the first link. It's listed at $445 and then I picked next day saturday which was a bunch of money about $100 in shipping, but I need it for my wifes graduation.

sorry, but you won't get an r1 for 500 from them. there are quite a few of these sorts of online electronics retailers. always double check their background.

I'm canceling my CC so the transaction doesn't go through. I looked at the reviews posted on http://www.shopcartusa.com/Product/DSCR1/E...Y/?ic_campID=98 and they all gave good ratings. I didn't think anything of it until downhil posted.

My order was placed but not processed since it's the weekend. Since the transaction didn't go through yet I'm just going to be safe and cancel my card and get a new one issued to me. I also email the company and told them to cancel my order. Being that they seem so currupt I don't think they would cancel my order like I said.

I hope I'm safe from being ripped off by them. I guess next time I buy I'll do a search on my own to find out more info about a company. A 3 min search on google gave me more then enough info about CCI that I didn't want to do business with them.

Thanks for the info!!

My cc company said that it would be best to leave the account active and if they charge me for the camera after I told them to cancel the order i could put a dispute on the charge with my CC. USAA CC wouldn't charge me for the camera and would investigate the charge to see if I told them to cancel it before the order was charged. I saved the email I sent to CCI camera informing them that I wasn't charged for the camera yet and they shouldn't charge it since I canceled my order.

I really hope I don't get charged for this camera from CCI.

If you are looking for an amazing camera that is still a point and shoot with manual functions then I would recommend the Fuji Finepix 10. They are amazing little cameras and have a good amount of manual functions. Here are some photos I took in the bahamas in 3 megapixel mode and it can go up to 6MPf

This is in Macro mode 3mp fine/chrome setting
