drive like everyone is your enemy and plan for the worse thats what they teach in the MSF cycle course.
i've been riding plenty of years and a liter bike is definitely a big no no for a first bike. whoever says 600's are underpowered, i invite them to come to the track with my boys and see how these 600's do. we lap liter bike riders all day....i'm not bashing the op, because i do have friends who started on liters, but i really dont recommend it, reason being is that it's harder to develop as a rider, and trust me, everybody always says they aren't cocky and will respect it. i hope u do.

This is the most retarded shit I've ever heard in my life... and this is coming from someone that rides a one liter.
well its been said time and time again ....you can hurt yourself on a Vespa 49cc scooter just as easy as a 600cc just as easy as liter bike. it is about control, .....many people start out on big bikes(1000cc+) for many reasons. I however am extremely thankful i never bought a 600, i had the chance to ride them before i made a choice, and sure they rip up top, but below top end, they are weak. sure, people dont use the 600s to their full potential, people dont even use 250s to what they are capable of. I'm sorry but i dont think its responsible to have to open the throttle up all the way to get moving while riding in the city(like on a 600), plus if you have exhaust you are gonna draw tons of unwanted attention just getting up to speed. where on a liter bike, you can cruise comfortably with the added torque,......apples to oranges, geo metros to chevy tahoes, 600s to 1000s.
We didnt buy our s2000s and use them to their full potential either
Ride safe friend.
