Default Spoon Top

hey guys, if you remember the poll asking for opinions about painting a faux window, well we ended up cutting the top. The top is almost done. Just been busy lately with work and I havent had the time to bring it to the shop. Well here is the final shape that we decided on and a little more work is needed but you can get the general idea of what its going to look like.

the top is going to be released by Shine soon

tell them to design their own unique top with a window, stop ripping off R&D that took years.

I do understand where youre coming from Andrew, but the top should have been originally released with a window because of a big blindspot there. what shine is doing is fixing all the issues that the original top has like the gap where the door window seals against the top and where the top lays on the body by the door. All that is being cleaned up and redesigned to be better.

I dont like replicas myself but I like quality. I would always pay for a better quality than go with name brand if the quality is better. replicas get a bad rep because of the lack of quality but you should see how they run the shop. what they specialize in is quality not quantity and they actually will take back something that does not fit properly everytime.

Very nice, the spoon top is really growing on me. Cant wait to see the finished product. Are you using factory hardware for your top like latches, strikers, etc. Thanks for sharing.

I would strongly suggest installing a roll cage if you do not already have one. The last time we talked to Ichi-san, he stated that the only reason they didn't add the window on there was for liability reasons. Adding the window on there lowers the structural strength of the hardtop by a lot. That was one of the reasons why they claimed the hardtop HAD to be installed with a roll cage when they first released it.
