Stock Vs Invidia Video Comparison!
Well I received the invidia exhaust last tuesday and I finally got it put on over the weekend (major pita but thanks to the people who gave some advice) and as I promised, I made a video closely comparing the stock exhaust vs the invidia exhaust (complete with accurate decibel readings) so potential buyers can get an idea of what you are really getting yourself into
. I also threw in a clip of what the car sounds like without an exhaust
EDIT: My video link is down as I need the space for other things -- Steve is now the host of my video
The new URL for the video is HERE -- thanks steve
For those of you who don't want to download a 24MB file here is a sum up of the tests
Test--Stock dB--Invidia dB
cold start--73.8--91.8
idle--70.7--75.5
3k rpms--70.4--99.7
6k rpms--86.3--103.0
9k rpms--92.5--108.7
in car--76.4--90.5
My thoughts:
The exhaust is loud? Good god it is! above 3k and under 5k Rpms it is almost obnoxiously loud (I'm only 18 still so I still act like a kid and the more obnoxious the better) in the cabin, to the point where you can't even think -- nothing ear plugs can't solve
. As I showed in the video, the drone range of the invidia is very controllable with the throttle so don't let that deter you. After 6k Rpms the engine gets louder then the exhaust but the engine now has a very sporty tone to it. In fact WOT coming at you the car sounds like a sport bike!
Anyway, I am very happy with the exhaust. The car is a weekend car usually so the sound is not much of a problem, if it were a daily driver I would consider something else or at least have silencers in it all the time.
Special thanks to steve at Evolution Autosports for the great deal on the exhaust system -- I think the group buy is still going on so go check out the group buy section -- maybe he can give me a deal on a new TS style hood now
@steve -- Please feel free to upload this file to your server and use it in future group buys so people can really hear what the exhaust sounds like
Also this video may be uploaded to the s2000 exhaust library.
Thanks again! Hope you all enjoy it!

Very nice!!! I have the same exhaust and I just posted up a topic in s2000 talk about the droning issues. If you want to play around with the exhaust even more, try unbolting the back half. It has a very nice hollow sound with less drone and louder at higher rpm's. I wish I could do something about filling the exhaust cutouts and I would run it without the mufflers all the time.
