yes, the lip is made out of steel.

Those wheels are very popular here in Belgium for the VAG cars.

I forgot which Custom Wheel company it was (Fikse, HRE, Kinesis) but they need to learn from these guys, I remember a picture in the Gallery Forum of some cracked wheels from tracking.
