Ok cool, thanks. Materials and stitching isn't an issue. We would more than likely "mass" produce, with "mass" being a relative term, the headliners with the option of a custom headliner. Thanks for the input.

the drop in noise level is HUGE, I only really hear the drive train now and some slight wind noise...I am sure there is a market for this.
The DIY was a cinch..

It seems like there is a market just from the response in this thread and from the response in the Carolina section. We're in the process now of working out templates for one HT right now, and we want to create templates for each specific HT, although we need someone to come by the shop for a free headliner. I just don't have a HT to work with. Along with that, we're working with different products to determine what makes the best headliner. Allen has used vinyl, suede, regular headliner material for years and years but there are some other products that show promise.

Here's the thread in the Carolina section I made: Headliner Offer.

I suppose it's ok since we're not actually selling anything.

Find some posts by Coop, either here or on S2KCA.com.

I got a chance to see the suede (or alcantara) headliner he had made for his Mugen hardtop, it was beautiful. It make the cabin very quiet...it looked BEAUTIFUL!!!

i used a rubberized spray paint to achieve a suede look and feel.

Cool, I'll check it out. There are a number of products available including Alcantara and ultrasuede from a company in Michigan. The ultrasuede is produced by them and they're a distributor of Alcantara from Italy. The ultrasuede is so much softer and more durable than Alcantara. There's also a company that makes flocking material that you can either spray on or electrostatically cling to whatever you're working with.

i have been thinking of this since the day i decided i wanted a hardtop....i wanted to do it dark gray alcantara with my black interior.....i was thinking of using alot of adhesive and then possssibly a few small screws and then hunt for some type of decent looking screw cover, to cover up the exposed head of the screw
