Super Lap Battle !
Hi Guys,
Long time no post. Have been busy working on our S2000 and Fit to attend this years Super Lap Battle (Super Street Time Attack) on November 7th 2007 Buttonwillow raceway.
Last years time attack we got beaten by Porsche GT2 in the Limited FR,MR class. Shouldn't the GT2 be in the 4WD class
Anyhow the GT2 is too hard to compete. I heard that GMG GT2 will be back so it made competition tougher and tougher
Last year our S2000 hold up pretty well in turns and I am very pleased with the laptimes. We realized the car was not making enough torque for acceleration and there were some alignment issues. The toe was chaning itself under acceleration and deceleration and we found the problem was caused by the upper arm brackets fatique so we have welded on the Spoon Gusset plate and we did some tracking testing earlier this year and it totally fixed the problem and the alignemtn is dead on

-We cleaned up all the factory rust proof material and some deadening.

-spot welded it on.
This year I also pulled the engine and try to add somemore low end power and torque to increase acceleration. We all know too much power makes the S2000 out of balance so I went with the Spoon 2.2L and a 4.46 Final gear.

-Engine out !

-honed, bored and redecked. Compression raised to 12.5:1

-I only upgrade the valve springs to J's and the rest remained stock.

-Work hard late at night everyday to get it finished

-We finally got the engine together going back in the car.
After a few years of abbusing , my old Exedy clutch went but luckily we got sponsored by Exedy this year and they have offered us their Carbon-R Twin plate clutch so that helps a lot with our budget

-there was a slight operating issue and it took us 2 days to figure that out
We also got some support from Carbonetic this year and they have offered us their new 4.46 final gear. This final gear is located inside the transmission by replacing the secondary shaft gear.

As for the suspension, just incase the rear will have the same problem as the front so we reinforced the rear subframe as well.

-rebuilt Carbon propellorshaft

-New T1R Forged aluminum half shaft spacers installed.

-Driveshafts went and gotta replace new ones
Brakes were also upgraded since the car will be heavier this year and will make a bit more power (1000 of a second counts
).

-J's Racing 6 piston caliper set

-J's Racing oversize rear brake rotor kit
Our official time attack driver Rob (Maxrev) said if we can reduce more oversteer then he will be able to do a better laptime thus we retro fit the Spoon diffuser ontop the J's RAcing bumper.

We will try our best and let's see what we can do this year
Thanks
Ben
