I try to leave sufficient padding around the subject in the picture frame so that I can print in different formats and not end up cropping parts off the subject of the photo.

composition is off, and you could use a little more contrast. before/after:

The composition is off because I had to crop out exposed yellow bricks on each side. Good tip on the contrast!! Thanks!!

angle is at eye level. I'd suggest getting up higher or lower. I'd also do the shot straight on rather than from slightly off center.
