My Mg style cf hood has the same gap.....i freakin hate it. I think i might just go all out for the mugen or the j's V hood
My car is using many of the J's parts. It is not yet finished yet, I still to do the rear fenders and put on my new Volk Racing RE30 17x9 +35 in GPW on all 4 corners.
BTW, if anyone wants to buy the wheels you see on the car PM me.

is there a way to make the hood fit correctly if it doesnt from factory?
i just bought the VIS J's replica hood for a killer deal and am wondering what i can do just in case the hood doesnt fit right.
I'm not sure how to get the fitment perfect too. I thought about having them either build up from the hood or get the fenders adjusted to be closer.
I too hate the slight gap and unevenness of the hood from the fender & bumper, but it's all good for now. I use mine at the track so it's bound to get messed up.
