His has more contrast, but also is slightly underexposed. There is no tire definition in the wheel well. You pic is much better! Maybe try just a little more contrast, but otherwise I think its great.

Actually, the editing looks fine to me. It's how you put the car right in the center of the picture that is ruining it for me. Chop off two inches of picture at the bottom and you'll be golden. Maybe even chop off a bit from the right side as well. Centering the subject in a photo is a major no-no in most situations (look up the rule of thirds, if you haven't heard of it before).
