You get a check engine light for running out of gas?

Did the CEL go off after you filled it up?
I suspect that once no fuel is being shot through the injectors, that this can be interpretted as a misfire. Once the gas has been replenished, it could take a driving cycle or two (or only a few seconds) to clear the CEL. It depends on which exact code it triggered.

I hate this gas tank...It screws with you so much...Ive turned on my car...only to find ive gained half a tank of fuel since i last checked. Then watch it drop faster then the car warms up... =O

I'm glad I don't have to worry about running out of gas. When I get 1/4 tank from empty, my fuel gauge jumps to 3/4 tank full w/o me ever having to stop and get gas. I've got the magic gas tank and magically makes it's own gas!
